A Car Air Conditioner Check Will Keep You Cool All Summer Long

Call Premier Auto Repair today to schedule a service appointment so we can inspect your car, truck, or utility vehicle’s air conditioner. The mercury is rising and summer will be here before you know it. We will make sure your vehicle’s air conditioning system will keep you cool and comfortable throughout the summer. Below, we are going to list some of the air conditioning system parts that we inspect.

Compressor

It’s important to inspect and test the compressor to make sure it is able to compress the refrigerant and circulate it without a hitch. The compressor is at a high risk of breaking down if it has not been used for months. You have not been running your car’s AC throughout the winter, so the compressor may not work when you turn on the air conditioner for the first time. We will test it to make sure it does.

Condenser

It’s also important to inspect the condenser. This is the air conditioning system part that keeps the refrigerant cool. It uses air inlets and a fan to accomplish this task. It is located behind the grille so it can draw air in from the outside. Unfortunately, road debris can also make its way through the grille and clog or damage the condenser by denting it or ripping a hole in it.

Condenser Fan

Along with inspecting the condenser for damage, we will also inspect the condenser fan for damage. In addition to this, we will test it to make certain that it turns on every time the system needs it to. The condenser relies on the fan to help it keep the refrigerant cold so the air blowing into your cabin is cold.

Electrical System

Another thing we will check is your vehicle’s electrical system to make sure there aren’t any problems that might prevent the air conditioner from working. For example, a blown fuse or broken switch can prevent the AC from turning on. We will also make sure the electrical system is safe by checking for frayed wiring or other electrical hazards that run the risk of starting an electrical fire.

Refrigerant

Finally, we will check the level of refrigerant in your car’s air conditioning system to make sure there is enough refrigerant for the entire summer. If the refrigerant level is low, we will test the system for leaks and repair them if we find them. Once repaired, we will top off the refrigerant.
